Getting your cat to the vet without the drama

Many cats only see their carrier on the way to the vet, so it is no surprise they hide when it comes out. A few weeks of practice changes everything.

Make the carrier part of the furniture

  1. Leave it out with the door open and a soft blanket inside
  2. Drop treats in it once a day
  3. Close the door for a few seconds, then longer
  4. Practise short car trips that end at home

Cover the carrier with a towel and put it on the seat, not the floor. Cats feel safer when they cannot see everything.

At Pawdena, cats have their own waiting room and we never put a carrier on the floor next to a dog.
