Mochi stopped eating on a Friday. Dr Nair saw her the same day, burred her teeth and gave us a hay plan. She has not had a problem since.

Finally a vet who knows birds. Kiwi was weighed, checked and had her nails trimmed, and we got great advice on her seed-heavy diet.

Dr Nair went through photos of Noodle's vivarium with me and spotted that his UV bulb was too old. He is brighter and eating better already.

Questions

Before an exotics visit

Which days can I see the exotics vet?

Exotics appointments run Wednesday to Saturday with Dr Priya Nair. Emergencies are seen any day.

How should I bring my pet?

Rabbits and guinea pigs in a carrier with some hay, birds in their travel cage under a light towel, reptiles in a warm, padded box.

Do you neuter rabbits?

Yes, with rabbit-safe anaesthesia, gut-friendly pain relief and a heated recovery cage. Most go home the same day.

How much does a consultation cost?

A standard consultation is $55. Every other fee is on our fees page, and we always agree treatment costs with you before we start.
